Message from the Superintendent Header Image

Dear CISD Families,

Our community has been dealing with some very traumatic events. With the untimely loss of family members and loved ones taking a toll on our emotional well-being, now more than ever is a time for us to come together as a family to support those in need. By leaning on our family, friends and faith, together we can work through even the most challenging of situations. I am so grateful to live in a community that values relationships and supports one another during the times we need help the most. It is during the darkest times that we can see the brightest parts of a community. Please know we you matter and we have people and resources in CISD to support you during your time of need.

Monday was Valentine’s Day, and it was so nice that our elementary children were able to celebrate this holiday with the traditional classroom parties, candy hearts and exchanging notes of appreciation at our schools. This is a time when we can share what we love about one another. I think now more than ever, we need to be spreading that love and kindness. Speaking of love, our “I Heart CISD” campaign continues, as we promote our district to prospective teachers, staff and families.

I encourage you to visit www.iheartcisd.com to learn more about this campaign. Our latest recruitment video can be found at go.coppellisd.com/22IHeartVideo. Personally, I love our school district because of the relationships between our educators, students and families. Our parents and guardians are important partners in educating a child, and we appreciate the transparent communications and engaging ways we work together to serve our children. We cannot do our work without our high level of parental involvement, and I thank our parents for being involved in our schools, serving on committees and volunteering in a variety of capacities. Parents are a child's first teacher and I thank our parents for sharing their wonderful children with us every day.

Another reason to love this district is our incredible girls' basketball team, whose record-breaking season continues as the Cowgirls won their first playoff game Monday night, on Coach Ryan Murphy’s birthday. Please join me this Friday as our girl's basketball team continues their playoff run against Irving MacArthur at Euless Trinity High School. The game starts at 7 p.m. Go Cowgirls!

I know our teachers and staff, as well as our students and families, are looking forward to the upcoming four-day weekend. I hope you all take this well-deserved break to rest, rejuvenate and hug your loved ones just a little bit tighter.

Sincerely,

Brad Hunt Signature

Four-Day Weekend Reminder:
CISD Closed Feb. 18 and Feb. 21

4 Day Weekend Graphic

As a reminder, there is a four-day weekend from Feb. 18 to Feb. 21. CISD will be closed on Friday, Feb. 18, which is a district holiday, and Monday, Feb. 21, which is an unused weather day. To make up for CISD closing Feb. 3-4 due to the winter weather, CISD is using built-in instructional minutes for elementary and middle schools. The district also added five minutes to the high school day, moving dismissal to 4:15 p.m. In addition, the high schools will not have an early release day on March 11 — the Friday before Spring Break —  to make up for being closed two days last week.  Read more at go.coppellisd.com/Minutes22

Feb. 14, aka “Murph Day” attributed to the birthday of Coppell coach Ryan Murphy, provided the Coppell girls basketball team a taste of something it has been longing for: sweet, sweet playoff victory. To celebrate “Murph Day”, the Cowgirls presented Murphy with cupcakes during walkthroughs and before heading down to Prosper to play in their first playoff game in four years as well as holding up a “Happy Murph Day” sign after their playoff game.  After scoring nine unanswered points to open the game, the Cowgirls never looked back as they cruised to defeat Allen, 63-39, in a Class 6A Region I bi-district playoff game on Feb. 14 at Prosper Rock Hill. The team takes on Irving MacArthur on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at Euless Trinity High School. Read more at go.coppellisd.com/Bi-DistrictBasketball
