Spotlight Athlete- Kylee Brandenburg
Kylee Brandeburg (8th grade) is this month’s North spotlight athlete. Kylee is a multi-sport athlete, having participated in volleyball, basketball and currently track. She successfully balances her position on the yearbook staff and academic studies with her rigorous athletic schedule. In her first track meet of the season, Kylee contributed 48 points to her team’s overall score. She earned second place in the long jump, as well as earning the title of “Meet Champion” in the 400m, triple jump and 4 x 400m relay. North is proud to have Kylee representing their athletic program!

Girls Golf
The Varsity 2 Girls played a tournament at Lantana CC, a very tough field and finished just out of top 10.
The JV girls placed 1st at Lewisville tournament at Lake Park, led by Navmi Srithaj and Oorja Agarwal.
The Varsity 1 team played the Region 1 preview event at TangleRidge in 25mph winds and finished 3rd, one stroke out of second!
Mia Gaboriau finished the tournament with 2nd place individual honors carding 73/75!
The JV Girls conclude their season on 3/8 with a Tournament at Timberlinks in Denton, good luck girls!
Upon coming back from Spring Break the Varsity1 Girls will play their District Tournament, with the top Two teams going on to Regionals in April.
Kirstin Angosta has verbally committed to play golf in 2023-24 at TCU, she will do great things for the Horned Frogs
Boys Golf
The Varsity 1 Team of Rithvik Shroff, Alex Ahn, Max Scott, Kai Kohli and Granger Hassmann recorded their best team scores of the season shooting a 306 on day 1 and a 309 on day 2. The team finished in 7th place out of 20 teams. Rithvik Shroff led the team by shooting a score of 74 both days and finished in 12th place individually in a field of 96 golfers.
The Varsity 2 Team of Jai Patel, Ashmit Aggarwal, Jacob Hahm and Grant Kutz shot a team score of 339 on day 1 and 350 on day 2. The Varsity 2 team was led by freshman Ashmit Aggarwal who shot a score of 85 on day 1 and a personal best 76 on day 2.
Wrestling
The Coppell Wrestling Team competed February 19 and 20th at the UIL State Championships at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas.
When the event was finished, the squad left with 2 State Medalists.
Senior, Maria Husain won her second, consecutive, state medal with a 6th place finish.
Junior, Scout Carrel, won her first state medal with a 5th place finish.
Freshman, Piper Carrell competed at the event but did not place and Sophomore, Cam Girard, attended the event as the state alternate.
PowerLifting
3 of the lifters- Charles Weber, Connor Zenici, and Ike Odimegwu- qualified to compete at the Regional Competition on Thursday, March 10th in Whitehouse Texas.
At Regionals Charles finished in 3rd place, earning a medal. Ike finished on 6th place, and Connor in 8th place.
Baseball
Cowboy baseball season has started! Our varsity is off to a 6-1 start after sweeping the HEB Classic last weekend.

The Coppell Cowgirls concluded their historic season in the Regional Quarterfinals in a hard fought defeat to state runner-up South Grand Prairie. The Cowgirls finished the year with a program record 37-2 season, a share of the District 6-6A Championship, and an Area Championship.
Several Cowgirls were also recognized for their individual achievements as well. Ella Spiller and Landry Sherrer won Honorable Mention All-District, Saiya Patel was 2nd Team All-District, Allyssa Potter and India Howard were 1st Team All-District, and Jules LaMendola was named District 6-6A MVP. In addition to their great play this year, eleven players earned Academic All-District as well!
We would like to thank the senior athletes, India Howard, Kim Obialo, Hanna Yamada, and Alyssa Hall as well as managers Brittan Hutchison, Ellis Owens, and Kamryn Williams for all their contributions to the program over the years. Cowgirl basketball now begins their off-season and working to make another run again next year!
Boys Basketball
The Cowboys season ended on Feb. 22nd with the team losing to eventual state semi-finalist McKinney in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. The team completed an impressive season and overcame a lot of adversity on the way. For the season, the team's final record was 21-15 and finished third in district 6-6A. They defeated nine ranked teams this season and won the 88th Annual Carsile/Kruger Classic in Houston. They also finished second in the Coppell Tipoff Classic and went 2-2 in the prestigious Whataburger Tournament.
Ryan Agarwal, Naz Brown, and Devank Rane were all named to the 6-6A All-District Team while Ryan, Naz, Devank, James Stevens, Eddie Hoehn, Eric Lampkin, Noel Berhe, and Devesh Lahoti were Academic All-District. The Cowboys will graduate nine seniors this year and will return five varsity letterman for next year's team.
Now it is on to spring off-season were the players will continue developing in conceptual and individual skills and physical development in the weight room.

Track and Cross Country
The Track and Field program started the season off at the Denton Ryan Invitational. The Cowgirls took first overall in the meet. The Cowboys placed first overall in the meet as well. Since the Denton Ryan Invitational, the Cowgirls have finished in second place in all of their other meets. The team is led by Sky Schuller who has broken several records this season.
During the Coppell Relays, Schuller broke her own Pole Vault record by clearing 13’7”. Kinley Wojick, Megan Judd and Kayleigh St. Peter have all had impressive seasons for the Cowgirls this season.
Since the 1st place finish at the Denton Ryan Invitational, the Cowboys have placed in first place at The Grapevine Relays, The Coppell Relays and The Lewisville Invitational. The incredible run of success by the Cowboys is a total team effort. Outstanding performances include Vedant Bhattacharyya who recorded a PR in the 800M run with a time of 1:56.38, Matthew Maldima who recorded a 10.7 in the 100m dash, Michael Nance with a 15’ 1” in the Pole Vault. Baron Tipton with a 44’ 9 ½” in the triple jump and Alvin Ebosele with a throw of 50’4” in the Shot put. The cross country team has continued to compete in track events over the past month. Some top varsity performers at these meets are Vedant Bhattacharyya in the 800/1600, Andrew Mullen in the 3200, Asheer Jiwani in the 800, Mallory Sherrer in the 1600/800, and Lulu Ehinger in the 1600/800. On the JV team, Rohan Shanbhag in the 800 and Ava Beaty in the 1600/800 have been performing well. Both the Cowgirls and the Cowboys have not only had impressive performances this year, they have had several athletes qualify for the Texas Relays, which will be held at the end of March.
Football
Football is continuing to push strong into their offseason program. We are on the final stages of phase 3 of our strength and conditioning programs. Testing will begin after spring break to see their new maxes. We also have multiple athletes participating in Track, Baseball, Powerlifting, and Lacrosse!

The Lady Wrangler athletes are in the final two weeks of track season! All athletes have been working hard and are getting ready for their zone meet that will take place on March 22 at Carroll High School. We want to wish all of our athletes the best of luck in that upcoming meet and hope to send as many athletes as possible to the Meet of Champs that will take place on Tuesday, March 29 at Coppell High School.

We have had sign up for soccer season, and that will be coming up starting March 31.
North
With over 150 North athletes participating in Track & Field competitively, this season marks one of the highest percentages of athlete participation in program history. The Cougar track team will travel on Tuesday, March 22nd to Southlake to compete in the Zone Track meet against East, West, Dawson and Carroll. Those athletes who score in the top 3 of each event will attend the Meet of Champions on March 29th at Coppell High School to compete against the top performers from all 18 middle schools in our district.
Soccer season is quickly approaching with try-outs starting on Wednesday March 30th. The first game will take place on Thursday, April 7th.
